Guess what, guys. We just got 150,000 hits! The Wiki has come a long way since it was first set up. I don't remember that time, and I suppose Spazzo could make has made a much better addendum to this post, but we all know that the Wiki has really, really bloomed since then. Congratulations and thanks so much to all the editors who have helped make the Wiki a better place.
Addendum
My god...are we seriously at 150k hits? I...I really don't know what to say. That's absolutely incredible. Who would have thought 3 years ago that a concept constructed by two users of a small-scale community would later go on to manifest into a community creation; filled with the hard work and dedication of legions of contributors. This is especially so considering the nature of the Internet - I mean, all of the work done to the wiki has been done by volunteers, and I am sure that I don't need to tell you guys that a project of this magnitude requires the input of a TON of volunteers.
In short? You guys ROCK my world. From Digiku, to SonicMaster, to DarkWarrior, to Hotdog003, and to everybody else who has worked diligently on this little project, thanks for making this place really shine. I owe it all to you guys, really. From TNG2W, to STARS, to SRB2WIKI...
Here's to the next 150,000!
Addendum
Good grief, everyone. You all have really taken the torch from our hands and run with the flame! And burned several small villages along the way, too. What started as a small catalog of cool thoughts between Spazzo and I has since blossomed into this collection of knowledge that would make a Borg proud. Mad props to everyone on the Admin team! More mad props to Sep, who had to endure our name changes AND our hosting, and the maddest props of all go to every single one of you who helped mold the SRB2 wiki into what it is today. Thank you all.

It appears to me as though all these things have been fixed, considering we had a new user join and the fact that monobook.css seems to be working fine.
Saturday, October 25th, 2008
Hey guys, the Wiki is going through some rough patches. Something has most definitely gone awry with things like the monobook theme and the login system, and it's being investigated as we speak. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes, we are working as hard as we can to smoothen things out. Until then, just sit tight.
Friday, October 24th, 2008
Honestly, I don't know why I didn't look into this immediately. I was told by Ss47 in a netgame that he couldn't join because the confirmation code wasn't visible. Dark Warrior has now fixed this, and it is possible for people to join the Wiki again.

I'm restoring the edits that were lost. Unfortunately, a few edits didn't make it to the Wiki atom feed dump DD: But hooray, right?
Addendum
I've restored all the important edits, i.e., I didn't restore talk pages. A ton of edits still ended up becoming lost.
Thursday, August 7th, 2008
Everything's open. I have a nice organized list of things to restore, thanks to Oogaland, so keeping up with people's edits and reapplying the old ones will be a non-issue. ~DarkWarrior Talk • Contribs 21:49, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

I've re-enabled Wiki editing for the Wiki administration. This restriction is temporary. It will be removed when I've set up the most important changes from the HTML dumps by Logan and RSS feeds from Oogaland. Hopefully, they'll be up soon, and I'll feel more comfortable opening it up again for the public.
Please be aware that, when I do open it to the public, it may still be within the realm of possibility for Logan to get the old server database, in which case, all changes made will again be lost, in favor of the old database, which has a lot more on it. ~DarkWarrior Talk • Contribs 01:32, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Correction: edits will be merged within a week. Logan_GBA 20:33, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
P.S. The ability to make anonymous edits to pages has been removed again, thankfully. Sorry about that! --Spazzo 01:09, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Good news, they find the old server, all edits with be wiped Logan_GBA 22:18, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

...Big loss. 2 whole months of edits have been completely lost. This is a major setback for the Wiki, given that a lot of new stuff was added in that 2 month frame. I'll be working especially hard to rewrite what was lost. I'm very sorry about this. This will take some time, but hopefully we'll have some stuff there that we lost.
After Spazzo begging me to stay on the Wiki, I later decided I would. But don't expect me to come back to the MB. However, I can only stay for probably a few more months now, because of some real-life things that will eventually happen. And in response to the other news post, ugh, I really don't want to rewrite those Mystic Realm headers again. Progress on the SRB2DB Tutorial, however, will not even remotely be an issue, as I still have those pictures saved on this computer. Also, most of the example WADs during this time were made by me, and I still have them. I feel like uploading some different stuff at the moment, though.
P.S. Dark Warrior, trying to recover all those lost edits, um, wow. That's gonna be hard, considering I literally made over a thousand edits during that time.
P.P.S. I also permbanned Ash again, as he/she/it was permbanned during that two month period. Never gonna give you ops, never gonna lift your ban; never gonna let you, Ash, come ba-hack...

All right. Have you noticed anything new on the sidebar? I've gotten approval for this new idea for the Wiki. It's a troubleshooting section. I've already got something started.
Fellow Wiki contributors, it's time to help add to this troubleshooting section! It's nowhere near finished, and it's totally editable. It's time to make the simple questions on the SRB2MB come down to a minimum. It's time to make this Wiki pwn even harder than it has now.
Addendum
I moved it to the SRB2 section. Troubleshooting solely deals with SRB2. I WAS going to make it part of the editing section, but there are other SRB2 quirks that are explained there.

Well, I wanted to post a cheesy parody to express myself, but as of now, one of our great contributors, Digiku, has been gone for 103 days. This is not counting the day he made his last post, nor is it counting today. We miss him. I hope he comes back.
Interestingly enough, the Wiki hasn't died. *shot for bragging* A lot of progress has been made over the time period:
- Seven new tutorials have been made. Torgo has created two Custom Textures Tutorials by separating a messy merged one. I managed to make a
Linedef Executor Tutorial, an SLumpEd Tutorial, aMoving Platforms Tutorial, a Hoop Placement Tutorial (I so want Digi to see this), and the biggie: an almost-complete, but fully functional SRB2 Doom Builder tutorial. Images will be added, I promise. Furthermore, things have been added to existing tutorials. I added multimare creation toNiGHTS Tutorialand Torgo has added a WAD to hisButton Creation Tutorialon how to make buttons pop up. - A
Match Strategy Guidehas been created. Has Jazz pwned j00 in match? Well, go and check out his strategies! It's not complete yet, but it's very helpful. - A lot of documentation of ShufflarB2 has been started. ShufflarB2 is one of those great mods out there; I finally gave it its long-deserved spot on the Wiki. I really think it looks cool to see our Head Admin's levels have their own documentation.
- Messing with color codes for your levels/SOCs is no more! For the
Colormap linedef type, alist of 729 hex valueshave been added. For OpenGL lights, alist of color valueshas been added as well! - Documentation on
SRB2 rendering errors! I find it weird that HOM was never mentioned. Also, some other strange glitches that you have found might be explained there! Sorry, Digiku, I used Botanic Serenity Zone to illustrate two of those glitches. (But BZ4's Forever Forest is prettier anyway! *shot by BSZ fanboys*) - Some images have been added to the OLDC pages. Often times, the winner is what has gotten honored. Sometimes, it's the most interesting level. In one contest, it was both.
- An OLDC leaderboard has been calculated. Scarily enough, because of my semi-photographic memory, I memorized the entire leaderboard without trying! I was shocked to find out that I made it on the leaderboard in my second contest, not to mention it was with a measly 7.00. This is a testament to how lacking in talent we are at making Circuit maps.
- Sonict has joined the Wiki. Well, that's a big deal, considering he's one of the administrators of #SRB2Fun and the SRB2MB. Oh, by the way, if anyone vandalizes his user page, I will set my banhammer to "3 days" and use it. Thank you.
Man, if we had Digiku back, we could go even FASTER! And by the way, if you do read this, Digi, fear me, for I am just short of 4,700 edits. ^_^

Recently, we overwent a change in sysop rights. Blue Warrior and Oogaland were demoted for inactivity. Though also inactive, Digiku, was not demoted; in our eyes, he does not deserve to be. Finally, I, SonicMaster, became a new Maintainer. Keep up the great work on the Wiki!
Tuesday, January 1st, 2008
Well, I could have made an update on December 2nd, and I could have made it on the 15th. But it would have been a waste. So much has happened not only this month, but this whole year. It only makes sense to post about it now, the day of a new year, and reflect on everything the SRB2 Wiki has gone through.
First, the staff positions got a real makeover. Not only did Oogaland and I get a generously privileged spot in the wiki hierarchy (and Mystic, for a while), but Dark Warrior gracefully rose up to the rank of Head Admin. In the progress of this, the Style Guide for Editors was constructed and later recreated as the Manual of Style. Not only that, but the SRB2 Specials were ported, the Requests list was created, security was upped, and the Wikipedia software was upgraded, greatly improving the performance of the wiki all around.
But that's not all. In this past month, the graphical layout has been improved, the Requests page has been given in good cleaning and organizing, and the category system was tightened even more. I also went to the trouble of reorganizing the Official Level Design Contest page(s) and giving the community section its own well-deserved spot on the sidebar, just as a last-minute addition. As far Modifications go... well, it's not quite finished, but I think the whole subject on it is going to have sunny days soon enough.
I would also personally like to take this time to thank one of our newest users, SonicMaster, for his committed hard work on the wiki and absolutely AMAZING amount of edits accomplished in only a couple of months. Without him, I can't imagine this place getting where it's at so far. And so, in honor of all this...
Here's a toast to SonicMaster...
A toast to a good future for the SRB2 Wiki, and everyone helping to make it happen...
A toast to a Happy New Year!

After recent talks between Spazzo, Digiku, and myself, it has been determined that SRB2 Wiki needs new authority structuring. Following that, changes have been made.
- We have changed authority categories, 3 total: "Head Admin", "Founder", and "Maintainer".
- I am now "Head Admin"
- Spazzo and Hotdog003 are now "Founders"
- Blue Warrior, Oogaland, and Digiku are now "Maintainers".
- Mystic gave up his authority entirely.
This came about after a recent argument over control of SRB2 Wiki and how it was run, and it was decided that an authority was needed
The basic idea behind these changes is this: The Wiki needs a "Head Admin", someone who can make decisions and generally knows what he is doing. After much talk, we all agreed that Digiku is best for that, but he has made known that he has no interest, so the job has been handed to me. The "Head Admin" has the responsibility to make important decisions and proposals.
The "Head Admin" should, on principle, consult the other Sysops before most administrative actions, but this is not a necessity, case pending. He also needs to maintain a constant presence, not leaving without prior notice, and be open to any and all proposals by other members. The "Head Admin" is also the only one who can promote users to another level.
The "Founders" have the same authority as the "Head Admin", save user promotion, but aren't generally expected to use them. They're more consultants than acting administrators. They may excersize their powers, but it shouldn't be on the same level as "Head Admin".
The "Maintainers" are essentially moderators. Their job is to revert vandalism, block vandals, propose ideas, and respond in a timely manner to all proposals made. In order for a Maintainer to stay as such, he must be fairly active (Maintaining a visible presence. Not necessarily editing every day, but something people can see), and respond to proposals in a timely manner.
We feel this structure will benefit the Wiki, because it allows for a real authority head that can make decisions without ridiculous power struggles and arguments. This will allow for easier implementation of Wiki standards, goals, etc. Hopefully, this will help SRB2Wiki in the long run.
Addendum
After an informal questioning in #SRB2Fun, it was made apparent that I was the best candidate for the (or probably was the) owner of the Wiki. Internal talks between DW, Spazz, and myself were in agreement. However, for official clarity, I actively declined to take the responsibility for reasons of interest.
I'll clarify on the new positions to add on to DW's words:
All three levels (Head Admin, Maintainers, and Founders) get the same sysop rights, with the exception of user promotion, which only the Head Admin gets. The rest leans on "expectations" of the three levels.
- The Head Admin is essentially the "owner" of the Wiki, and gets ultimate "creative control" of the site.
- The Maintainers, on the other hand, are relied for on input to the Wiki's operations. They may also perform administrative actions to an extent. Essentially, they have to, 1. Maintain a presence, and 2. Be credible. This also means that inactive Maintainers get demoted.
- Founders are so named as more of a decorative title, but still have sysop rights. However, they don't necessarily have to be relied on, and it's firmly established that Maintainers have more responsibility than they do.
My personal belief is that the main reason the Wiki wasn't working is that there was misplacement of power. Spazzo, Dark Warrior, and I agreed on this solution. As Spazzo and Hotdog003 were the owners before, Dark Warrior is now the new owner of the SRB2 Wiki. I personally recommended him for doing numerous, decisive, and exceptional work.
For more information, please consult the About SRB2 Wiki page. Thanks. Hopefully now we can finally get some work done. :D

Congratulations to Oogaland, our newest Sysop! After reading his edits, and finding them excellent, as well as figuring in that I could use another active sysop, I decided to add him on. Again, congratulations to you, Ooga! ~DarkWarrior

The Wiki was down for two days, but after a lot of work and listening to some Britney Spears music (yes, Britney Spears!), it's finally back up. During this time, maintenance was performed, including installation of a new version of the MediaWiki software for the site! Along with this upgrade came some new additions. Here's the nutshell of the changes; the most important may possibly be the first three:
- New logo, courtesy Neo Chaotikal. A new favicon is shown as well.
- New search plugin for Internet Explorer 7, Mozilla Firefox 2.x, and other supported browsers. For Firefox, allows search suggestions as well. Add the search plugin through your search bar in the upper right (by default).
- New simplified URLs. Instead of the old "http://srb2wiki.sepwich.com/index.php?title=Main_Page", the new "http://srb2wiki.sepwich.com/wiki/Main_Page" is now used!
- Improved category browsing. Within a category page, one can examine child categories by clicking the "+" sign next to them. See the SRB2 category for an example. Courtesy CategoryTree.
- New footnotes feature. Allows one to make a footnote and to also list all footnotes in one place. Can either be citations or simple notes. See Cite for more information. Courtesy Cite.
- New imagemap feature. Allows one to make imagemaps out of images. See ImageMap for more information. Courtesy ImageMap.
- Installed ParserFunctions extension, allowing for conditional operators in templates. See ParserFunctions for more information. More complicated templates can be coded. Among other things, this allows some Wikipedia templates to be copied over intact. Courtesy ParserFunctions.
- Overall reliability improvements. The old version of MediaWiki, 1.5.0, was replaced by the new version, 1.11.0. Over two years of progress naturally brings these improvements.
The Wiki is now new, improved, and ready to go live again! And don't let that Britney Spears music bother you with that in the least. If it makes you feel better, it wasn't all Britney Spears. :)

Alright, I think we can all agree that the SRB2Wiki needs more people working on it. And to get people active, we need motivation. Well, I just had a talk with FuriousFox on IRC, and he agreed to set up a nice little thing on #SRB2Fun. The top 5 contributors of the month will be given a voice on #SRB2Fun, and a special little section on #SRB2Fun's page here accrediting them for their work. The top 5 will change every month, so that everyone has a chance to earn this. In order to qualify, all you need is to be registered, have all edits conform to The Style Guide, and to be logged in when editing (Else I can not properly credit you). I will personally be watching the edits and checking the quality, and every month, the best 5 editors will receive a voice in #SRB2Fun. Let's hope this finally gets people working!

Thanks to SSNTails, we now have new image verification set on the Wiki! This has been applied in two places. The first is in the page editing form. If you are not logged in to SRB2 Wiki, you must input the correct code in order to edit pages. The second is located in the registrar. Simply input the code, along with filling in account data, and it will work fine.
If using image verification does not sit well with anyone, simply click the "Remember Me" option when you next log in. This will automatically log you in each time you enter the site. However, currently there is a bug in this that still gives the verification form, even when logged in. Once this bug is fixed, this method will be useful for those who do not like image verification.
This has come about as a result of bot edits. There is also talk of the possibility of closing off all pages entirely from unregistered edit. To voice an opinion on this, please click on this link, and add your comments to it.

The Wiki now has a Requests list! The Requests list is a listing of topics which users can add on to, covering which topics they haven't found on the Wiki and which they would like to see. If you wanted to find something here but you didn't, then please add it to the Requests list so somebody can write about it. Thanks!

A Category browsing system is now implemented in the SRB2 Wiki!
The Category system replaces the old Table of Contents page. The categories should be easier to browse through, and they should also be more thorough. While the old Table of Contents page consisted of a selection of pages, the Category system takes into account many more; close to all of the pages.
One can start browsing by selecting either the Sonic Robo Blast 2 category, which deals with the game itself; or the Editing category, which deals with editing SRB2. Instructions on browsing categories can be found on either of those two pages.

The SRB2 Wiki has adopted the new Style Guide for Editors as official policy of the Wiki. It includes guidelines on language style, primers on wiki markup, and prospects that can very well be followed.
We recommend that both new editors and existing editors read up on these guidelines and try to adhere to them as best as they can. The Style Guide is a significant update to the former single "Writing and Editing Guidelines" page that used to serve as standards. Upon writing the Style Guide, new standards were adopted and clarifications to existing standards were made.
For existing editors, we recommend that you especially read up on these:
Style > On Title CapitalizationSpecific Cases of Style > On Forming TitlesSpecific Cases of Style > SRB2 ScreenshotsWhat the SRB2 Wiki Should Be
Not to downplay on the other guidelines, but it's felt that those listed above are deserving of special attention for existing editors. We still recommend that the other guidelines be read as well.
The reason for adopting these new guidelines is to promote the Wiki as an exceptional SRB2 resource–a goal which we hope to achieve one day.

I have completed porting the SRB2 Specials list to the Wiki. While not by any means perfect, the Linedef and Sector pages have been virtually filled, with a few minor exceptions. Hopefully this means that the Wiki will be more useful for people now.

While I'm here and stopping by for a little bit, I thought I'd take the opportunity to say "Congratulations" to the new moderators. Thanks to your previous efforts, this wiki was picked up from the dead and given life again. I'm also happy to say that the recent activity and decision-making has been extremely intelligent — exactly what I wanted to see back when I made that long post about the wiki before my big activity in the wiki.
Keep it up. If this big bout of activity and intelligent decision-making is kept alive for a long time, then I may just have true hope for this wiki yet.

Alright guys, it's that time of year again.
Moderator Submissions. This place is in dire need of people who will constantly keep watch over, and work on it. Ever since Digiku's left, the place has slowed down to a halt, in terms of progress and sophistication. I am hoping to be able to recruit from one to five new members to become mod's for the Wiki.
Think you have what it takes? Send an e-mail to "antonakes at hotmail dot com" [no quotes] (scrambled due to e-mail harvesters) with the E-mail subject "SRB2 Wiki Moderator Submission", containing the following information:
- Username
- Links to previous work on the Wiki
- Good Personality Traits
- Track Record (Contributions to community, past affairs, etc.)
- Why you think you should be a moderator
- Anything else about yourself that you feel is appropiate
I plan(/hope) to have chosen, and promoted my new assistants by the end of March, at the very latest. I will update this message, when the submission period ends. Good luck to all!
EDIT: Submission time Closed!

Thank you! I thank Spazzo and Hotdog for my position on the mod team. As first act of moderator, I changed the main page to make the SRB2 Wiki more accessible and more involved. Also, I have written writing and editing guidelines, so be sure to read those and conform to our new standards. Also, read Wikipedia's wiki markup primer – that's a great resource, too!
One more note is that images finally work properly on the wiki! This mainly means that you can now place images on articles as thumbnails. The wiki is now able to automatically resize images to whatever fits – a feat it has not been able to do before. Hopefully, this will make dealing with images a lot easier now.

Hey guys, you see this place? ITS DEAD. There hasn't been all that much new content being added to STARS in a while. I'm just pointing out that Hotdog003 and I decided to make this wiki to help people with SRB2, and it isn't helpful if the wiki is outdated. So, please, get some more content on STARS, it would really be helpful, and not just to me.
