Talk:WadAuthor
People think this is easier than Doom Builder? I think Doom Builder is much easier than WadAuthor. –SonicMaster 21:42, 2 December 2007 (PST)
Some people do, because they're overwhelmed by SRB2DB's HIIIIIIIIIIIII-TECHNICAL interface. [/SPM quote] But, the one's who aren't overwhelmed think SRB2DB is easier. ~Kaysakado • Talk 04:29, 3 December 2007 (PST)
I use regular Doom Builder. =P ~ Blue Warrior talk 06:03, 3 December 2007 (PST)
It's not like WAD editors are my main priority, here. :P
I was following general convention, and that some people do say WadAuthor's easier. I think it's because that's what they first used, so they know the most about it. It's a good point, though; it's mainly the oldbies who say such. --Digiku talk 10:12, 3 December 2007 (PST)

The link to download WadAuthor has expired. Is it possible to link to another download? --Simsmagic 19:27, 10 February 2008 (PST)
Why are you wanting to use WadAuthor? There are very little advantages with this map editor, and you already do use SRB2DB. You said so yourself. –SonicMaster 20:15, 10 February 2008 (PST)
SRB2DB has been acting a bit funny lately, so I've been seeing if maybe Wad Author would work any better. --Simsmagic 15:07, 11 February 2008 (PST)
Well, what's the problem? You could go ask Ooglaboogla about it. BTW, WadAuthor has issues when toggling whether to set the Back Sidedefs and Front Sidedefs. The interface is quite a bit harder. And while actually placing the sector takes less steps, you have to go and explicitly say which sector the sidedefs belong to...every time you make a sector. The only real advantage with WadAuthor is the fact that it has a wizard to construct an n-sided equilateral polygon, and its Convert Sector to Stairs function isn't buggy. And WadAuthor's method of selecting linedefs and sectors is extremely frustrating. I would know. When you go and finally select 20 or so linedefs and accidentally deselect them all, it's very frustrating. SRB2DB and DB are so much better at selecting things. There is also no FOF wizard in WadAuthor. You also need to run ZenNode every time you make a map in WadAuthor simply because of the fact that its internal nodebuilder isn't very good. The bitsetting is also not overly easy in WadAuthor, either. You have to do so in hexadecimal, not to mention you actually have to bitset Linedef Flags with actual hex values rather than just having checkboxes. Unless you want to use this map simply because it's harder to use (only reason is that it's impressive to be able to use a difficult map editor).
And don't even think about DeePsea. That map editor is also really strange, not to mention the fact that it's gonna think Rings are Health Potions and that Axes are Commander Keen 2. And that a Star Post is a Lost Soul.
Anyway, yeah, just go get help from Oogaland. I'll go find a new link for WadAuthor right this instant. –SonicMaster 15:29, 11 February 2008 (PST)
EDIT: I found a WadAuthor download link.
