Talk:Yellow Spring - Up
Uhm, shouldn't the boosting height be 384, not 500? As in, "The Yellow Spring propels the player around 384 fracunits into the air", and not, "The Yellow Spring propels the player around 500 fracunits into the air"? Blahblahbal 17:04, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Just tested: if a yellow spring is placed at Z=0, player can reach Z=426 FU. --Ezer'Arch|עֶזֶר'AρχTalk 17:23, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Then it should still be fixed, shouldn't it? Blahblahbal 20:32, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes and no. Why? The article wisely says "The Yellow Spring propels the player around 500 fracunits into the air", not "The Yellow Spring propels the player - exactly - 500 fracunits into the air". 426 is fairly near 500 FU. Then, here, it's still a valid statement. But, the article misses some details:
1) if you place a yellow spring underwater, the boosting height goes up to ~700 FU.
2) if you place a yellow spring underwater and the player spins, the boosting height goes up to ~1400 FU or more (Note: well, I managed to do it few times, it's hard to reproduce it. I remember very well I managed to do it in Water Plant Zone: sometimes, my character hit the ceiling where sector has 2240 FU height). --Ezer'Arch|עֶזֶר'AρχTalk 00:42, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, it's not that the boosting power changes as much as the physics are different underwater, and you obtain a slight boost when leaving the water. Underwater springs have around three times the height of springs in air, but it really depends on the positioning of the surface of the water compared to the spring exactly how high you go. -Mystic 02:30, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
