Talk:Official Level Design Contests of 2009
Nov/Dec Match screenshot
It won its' division, but I think at this point most people are familiar with what Frost Columns looks like now that it's in the rotation - furthermore, there were not really any visual changes to the map after the contest version. So is anyone opposed to instead replacing its' screenshot with the runner-up, Crystalline Caves? Mr. Mystery 21:19, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
I am. The winner gets the screenshot, no exceptions. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 11:16, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
So am I, this has happened before (Warped Woods, Thunder Factory) and is probably going to happen again (Celestial Sanctuary) and it would only lead to confusion if some of the screenshots were the runner up instead. ~Katmint Talk • Contribs 18:50, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
...if only the winners should get the screenshots, why are there still screenshots for non-winner maps (and none for some of the actual winners) in the OLDC 2004 and OLDC 2005 pages? Have those two pages' screenshots just not been sorted out yet? =/ --Monster Iestyn Talk 19:02, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
The one who originally made all these screenshots was SonicMaster. His idea was to have a screenshot for the most notable map, and that wasn't necessarily always the best one. As you can see here, that led to some discussion when Canyon CTF was declared the most notable mpa of a contest and ended up getting a picture instead of Iron Turret Returns. We practically decided then that we should always have a picture of the winning map, regardless of any other factor. A few weeks ago, I went through the older OLDC pages to enforce just that (as well as add missing pictures). I got to 2006, anything before that was never finished, I think because I didn't have all of the maps. So yeah, those are supposed to have pictures for the winners too. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 19:37, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Missing level in contest pack
I was going through the previous contest levels and I just found that the winning level of the May/June 09 contest is completely missing. The link in the voting topic is also dead making it impossible to see the winning level at all.--Glaber 20:47, 31 December 2011 (CST)
Sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about. I can clearly see a file labeled "scr_millcitadel_act2.wad" in the ZIP. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 05:44, 1 January 2012 (CST)
I'm sorry, I should had clarified which category the missing level is of. It of the circuit division, MAPA7 - Star Reactor Zone by Kuja --Glaber 14:01, 1 January 2012 (CST)
So is there a version of the May/June 09 mutiplayer pack that has the missing level still or what?--Glaber 01:28, 17 January 2012 (CST)
It's in Kuja's level pack, The Emerald Isles. I don't know of any place where you can find the original contest version, but try asking in IRC or the MB. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 06:49, 17 January 2012 (CST)
