Hi
Hi there. --Ricardo [Contribs] [Talk] 16:40, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Which part you help ? @TailsX 23:23, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
I help mainly with technical stuff such as how linedef/sector specials work, for example. But, I don't know, maybe I'll write something not so technical someday, perhaps a tutorial on something? --Ricardo [Contribs] [Talk] 00:13, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Linking "tagged" to the actual page
I want to link every first reference of the word "tagged" or similar, in every linedef special page, to here: Tagging. Is it a good idea, or just too much? --Ricardo [Contribs] [Talk] 23:36, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Tagged sector or target sector? Once I had a similar discussion with SpiritCrusher somewhere I don't know. --Ezer'Arch|עֶזֶר'AρχTalk 01:59, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Tagged sector and target sector are the same. I think it's a good idea to link every first instance of the word "tagged" though. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 04:48, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Okay then, I'll get to it as soon as possible. --Ricardo [Contribs] [Talk] 12:10, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Should the reference to the Sector page be also present in every linedef special that mentions the word "sector"? I think that makes sense but honestly I don't want to do it without making sure it's useful. What do you think? --Ricardo [Contribs] [Talk] 00:00, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
For the record
"An" is used before vowels (spoken vowels, not written vowels), "a" before consonants. So yes, you were right. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 14:04, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, but "Once" also begins with a spoken vowel, although in that case it didn't sound right an "an" before it. Plus, you don't usually write an article before the word "Once", hence my doubts. --Ricardo [Contribs] [Talk] 14:09, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
It begins with a spoken consonant, which is kind of a bastardized "W", similar to "want". It's kind of a borderline case, but in phonetics, it's a consonant. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 14:13, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Heh, beat me to it, I was about to comment on that. Yeah, it's a "W" not a "U" like in my language =P --Ricardo [Contribs] [Talk] 14:15, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Yea yea yea. I forgot it's spoken vowels (once = /wons'/), not written ones. My brain was too stick to a "written" rule. My fault. --Ezer'Arch|עֶזֶר'AρχTalk 22:44, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Color Character and don't delete and reply
How change color character by linedefs ? @Router 14:26, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Use this linedef action Linedef_Type_415 and write this on the script: "color <whatever>". It only works on multiplayer though. --Ricardo [Contribs] [Talk] 14:29, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
XSRB2 has a separate Color Change linedef special for single player. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 17:34, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Re: Undocumented stuff about Things/Objects
Hi! Good to see you're back. Regarding your specific example (the springs), that is already documented here (scroll down to MF_SPRING
). I was actually thinking about making a specific article called "Spring" that would document this (and other spring-related stuff) in a more convenient place that's easier to find. The fact that you didn't know this feature was already documented demonstrates pretty clearly that right now the information is too difficult to find.
As for other undocumented stuff, I'm not sure how much you will find that isn't already documented somewhere. Thanks to an awesome list Monster Iestyn made, we've been able to identify and document a good deal of features we didn't know about before. Oftentimes it's just a matter of putting the information in the right spot where people will see it. And that's where it gets tricky, because there is really no hard and fast rule for how these things should be documented. As I said, in the case of springs I think the best solution would be to create a new article, but that might not be true for other stuff. I think it needs to be decided on a case-by-case basis. If you find a feature that isn't documented anywhere yet, I would advise you to put it wherever you think it would be most convenient for the reader, or if no convenient article exists, to create one. And if you can't think of a good place to put it, just put it up for discussion on some talk page.
Thanks for helping out, and if have any further questions, feel free to ask! --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 02:26, 20 May 2013 (CDT)
By the way, I decided to go ahead and create the Spring article. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 03:38, 20 May 2013 (CDT)
Do take care not to mindlessly take anything in that fairly old page of mine as absolute fact, mind. Was just reminded of that myself when I noticed I'd bizarrely put down that SeeSound
did stuff with MF_SPRING
. (Just why? x_x) Always a good idea to double-check stuff really. --Monster Iestyn Talk 04:37, 20 May 2013 (CDT)
- Wow, that is one impressive list, good job Monster Iestyn! Well, I guess that makes my task easier, since I'll just skip the stuff you found. As you said, it is always a good idea to double-check stuff, so I'll be doing that and notify you of any mistakes you might have made, or any other thing you might have missed. Although looking at the current state, I must say I'm pretty confident you got everything right! =D --Ricardo [Contribs] [Talk] 07:33, 20 May 2013 (CDT)
