Hey Fawfulfan nice to see you here on the wiki your the only other guy I know obbseded with a viallan in a major series.
Sample WAD Restructuring
You might have already seen it, but I'm currently restructuring the naming conventions for the example WADs. Basically, they are now named "ex_ld_linedef number.wad". Since you're working on the linedef type pages anyway, would it be possible to use that naming convention in the pages you edit? Thanks in advance. --SpiritCrusher 15:12, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'm actually kind of opposed to this, SpiritCrusher. It makes sense in theory, but I'm trying to make it so that people uneducated in SRB2 editing can easily understand everything. If they see the WAD later on their computer, it'll be harder for them to tell at a glance what the WAD demonstrates by the name. Fawfulfan 15:09, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Compromise: Keep both the number and the description. Like this: "ex_ld_'linedef number_linedef name.wad". This way, they can be maintained easily, since they will be listed in order, but you will still know what the linedef type actually does. --SpiritCrusher 15:12, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- I predicted you'd say that. That sounds fine. Fawfulfan 15:14, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
I actually predicted you'd bring up that issue, but I admit I started becoming lazy after trying out exactly that. Guess it will take a few days then, but it's by far the best solution. --SpiritCrusher 16:02, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and one more comment on this: For the sample names, I'm removing the suffixes "parameters" and "on level load". These should be self-explanatory, and make the filename unnecessarily long. --SpiritCrusher 16:21, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
New Sidebar
I'm currently trying to bring the Wiki sidebar up to date, since it's missing a lot of stuff. Could you please take a look at my test layout and comment on it? Thanks in advance, SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 10:50, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
- I like it in general. However, I do think that the strategy guides for gametypes other than Match should also be included. Fawfulfan 20:39, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I would really like to include them, but unfortunately, they don't exist. We could work on expanding the Match Strategy Guide to include such information, however. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 04:51, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Thing Types and Sector Type pages
I don't know if that would actually be more helpful for people looking these specials up. See, Thing Types and Sector Type are displayed in the SRB2DB config primarily by name, while Linedef Types are displayed primarily by number. Because of this, giving the number for the Linedef Types is more helpful, and giving the names for the Things and Sector Types is also more helpful. But still, we could redirects the numbers to the names, so that people can find the specials either way.
Regarding the samples, I've already started with the Sector Type samples here, and I've used "ex_stXXX_specialname". That's essentially the same as your idea anyway. Regarding the Things, I planned to look through them at a later date, there are indeed a few ones that need samples, like the Axe. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 13:44, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm, either way, these pages actually were once named "Thing Type X" instead of their name, but that was changed, so I guess there was a reason for that. I'm gonna ask Rob about that. Also, I personally find the names to be much more descriptive and helpful, so I don't see a reason for changing them. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 13:53, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Uh, please only change the Sector Types page when all pages have been moved. This way, the page doesn't get any red links and remains functional. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 16:13, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I'm sorry, I made a mistake there. Actually, my system worked a bit different, taking into account the different groups, but I wanted to reorganize it to reflect just the sector type numbers anyway. Yes, it's supposed to be "ex_stXXXXX", of course. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 16:30, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
File name template
I see what you're going for with the new template, but its hardly useful. Non-maintainers can't rename samples, and I have a list with all samples that should be moved anyway. Oh, and by way: Why did you change "Bustable Block Sprite Parameter" to "Bustable Block Sprite Picker"? The config gives the first. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 12:34, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
It was "Picker" before and is "Parameter" now. I already changed it back, I just wanted to note it here because the rollback function doesn't let give an edit summary. Regarding the samples, I don't want to encourage people to replace samples that are already there. This only creates unnecessary files, and it is a lot of work to put the template on all pages that need it. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 12:40, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh by the way, why are you removing the "__NOTOC__" from the sector type pages? They are so short that a Table of Contents is usually not needed and unnecessarily clutters the page. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 12:42, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Thing/Sector Type pages
Please don't edit these pages at the moment. I'm batch editing them so that they have the old names again, and any edits you make will be lost. Also, the Deaf flag is now called Ambush flag, look at the config. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 12:20, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- Wait a minute...do you mean they won't be called Thing Type 1, Thing Type 2, and so on any more? I thought we were agreed on doing that for the sake of consistency. Fawfulfan 12:22, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Have you read the discussion going on at the main page? We all have agreed now that this would be unhelpful for the regular user. The linedef type pages will probably also be renamed. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 12:24, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- But don't you remember the main reason why I thought it made sense for the pages to be referred to by number? Because while the names of effects change as the config is updated, the numbers remain constant. The argument that people will find these pages more easily this way doesn't hold up either, because either way, we will have redirect pages that have the linedef names or numbers, so searching for either will bring up the correct page no matter which naming system is used. Bottom line, it is little help for Wiki browsers, and it makes things more difficult when we need to account for a new version of the config. Fawfulfan 12:32, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Seriously, you weren't there to experience all the drama this change caused. There's virtually nobody agreeing with you on this, while everybody else is pushing me to revert it. I don't care anymore what's more helpful, I just wanna get rid of all that trouble. Ask Mystic if you want reasons for reverting this. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 12:38, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Image templates
That happened when I import a new CSS style for a template Digiku made. You might have noticed how the formerly blue dots on the sidebar are now gray, for example. I don't know why that removed the images for the main page, but I guess that's responsible for it. I'll ask Digiku to look into it once I see him, but in the meantime we'll have to live with that. It's a small cosmetic problem after all. Regarding your signature image, Inuyasha deleted it because it's a personal file unnecessary for the Wiki. Host it somewhere else and link to it in your sig please. You can also click on the red link to see the deletion message. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 17:25, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Linedef Type Pages Setup
Yes, I'm late with this, but so what. I actually don't think the "Setup" section should be split in "General" and "Properties". The "General" part is in most cases one really redundant sentence that says you should create a control sector, give one of its linedefs this effect and tag it to the target sector. This should be common sense, if somebody doesn't know how to do this, they should read the SRB2 Doom Builder Tutorial anyway. The only thing it does is clutter the page with redundant information and split the page into really tiny paragraphs. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 12:02, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- I suppose you're right...99% of the time it is redundant, and I guess we can just lump the other 1% in with what's in the Properties section. FawfulfanWant to talk? 19:34, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

SWZ or SZ
I abbreviated it as SWZ following the same logic as GFZ's abbreviation. I don't really like two-character abbreviations if they can be avoided, because they are more ambiguous. "SWZ" makes clear that Spacewalk Zone is meant, and removes the likelihood of mistaking it for a misspelled Snowcap Nimbus or Star Showdown. Of course, if you really want to, go ahead and change the abbreviation, since it's your mod, but I personally think SWZ just might be a bit clearer. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 12:35, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Friendly Reminder
Have you ever read this, or the rest of that article and its sister article. It seems not, and as a maintainer of this very Wiki, you should take a look at it. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 14:08, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- That's pretty embarrassing...I had a feeling it was too big. Thank you for fixing that for me...I'll be more careful in the future. FawfulfanWant to talk? 16:26, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. The problem wasn't necessarily the size, but more the format, which wasn't a multiple of 320x200 and therefore looked weird. Also, just a matter of personal taste, but could you reply on the talk page where the discussion was started instead of the one for the user you're talking to? I'm always a bit confused when I have to switch between two pages to follow a discussion. I know I don't get the "You have new messages" disclaimer then, but since I regularly patrol Recent Changes anyway, I'll catch it either way. --SpiritCrusherTalk • Contribs 17:50, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
